Opportunities

We're a small group of justice-oriented dreamers. We use our legal skills to transform the systems that perpetuate poverty into systems of opportunity. We're generalists with enough range to help our homeless clients navigate those problematic systems. We're creative tinkerers when developing better ways to achieve justice--even if the prototype is all jenky and held together by duct tape. :p But we're not too self-important that we can't laugh about the hubris of chasing after our dreams.

As for pay and benefits (in line with legal services salaries), we know we're not able to pay you what you'd get in the for-profit world, but we promise that you'll always be treated with respect and have the freedom to do justice.

We strongly encourage people of color, women, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, people with past involvement in the justice system, and people with experience with poverty. This is more than a generic policy statement, as 83% of the board and staff have multiple such identities and all of us have at least one.

We have a deep commitment to building the bench for social justice and therefore work hard to come up with projects that work for the right person and idea, whether than exposing you to the social justice world as a high schooler, giving you a quasi-legal experience as an undergrad, or working on a project of your own as law student.

We strongly encourage people of color, women, LGBTQ people, people with disabilities, people with past involvement in the justice system or who have loved ones currently or formerly in the justice system, and people with personal or familial experience with poverty or homelessness to apply. This is more than a generic policy statement, as 83% of the board and staff have multiple such identities and all of us have at least one.

So if you love helping people, like actually helping them, and your idea of a good time is coming up with different ways you can mess with the man for the benefit of the poor or vulnerable, we love to hear from you.
